Spencer Ogden is the global market leader in recruitment for the energy sector.
The company was looking to boost its profile and maintain its position at the top of the sector as renewables took on increasing importance. They needed a B2B PR agency to plan and host an event – complete with social and online components.
The Definition team began with a brainstorm to identify the topics that mattered to stakeholders in the renewable energy industry.
It quickly became clear that one of Spencer Ogden’s greatest assets was its experts.
Noting this, various formats designed to leverage their profiles were discussed. A roundtable event was the resulting tactic: ‘The Future of Renewable Energy’ was finalised as the topic and The Guardian’s environment correspondent Fiona Harvey brought it to host.
However, an in-person event wasn’t enough – the company wanted to reach an even larger audience. The Definition team coordinated a live stream and real-time social media interaction, including soliciting questions on Twitter, and the results were outstanding.
The panel discussion was covered by major industry publications such as Engineering & Technology and Cleantech Investor as well as several national newspapers.
Over 650 live attendees at the virtual event
Associated hashtag reached over 8,000 X (FKA Twitter) users
Event reach of over 87,000 people
Nominated for a Golden Hedgehog PR Campaign of the Year Award
The event worked so well Spencer Ogden commissioned a series of round tables, attracting 22 tier-one national influencers to the panels and reaching hundreds of thousands of energy stakeholders in the process. In the same time period, the business grew from a start-up to a major global organisation, with 13 international offices and a turnover in excess of £100m.
