W&P scoops eight awards – including the evening’s highest accolade – at the IoIC Central & North Region Awards 2020.
We’re proud to have won big at the Institute of Internal Communication’s (IoIC) Central & North Region Awards, adding to our success at the IoIC’s National Awards earlier this year. This brings our total number of accolades to 212, each industry recognition of our communication excellence.
Coveted commendations
The virtual event proved a major high point for the industry during such a challenging year. On the night, nearly 200 IC professionals attended to celebrate talent and innovation from across the region with a large number of quality entries vying for the coveted Awards of Excellence and Class Winner commendations. Only the most deserving were selected by an independent panel of leading comms professionals drawn from global organisations.
Our Class wins include ‘Best Imagery’ for our Head of Photography Alan Barton; ‘Freelancer of the Year’ for Associate Writer John McDonough (for his contribution to Southeastern Railway’s colleague newspaper); and ‘Best Magazine’ with Voyage Care’s Zest Magazine. For the second year running the team also received the event’s ultimate accolade, The Tom Dawson Award, with Voyage Care’s Zest for outstanding communication and creativity. This was based on the highest individual score of all the entries from the judges.
Zest for life
Allison Carey, Internal Communications Team Leader of Voyage Care Ltd, said: “Zest is a celebration of the achievements of the people we support and our staff team.
“We couldn’t achieve this without the fantastic partnership we have with the team at Words&Pictures. They understand the very specific requirements for our magazine and together we’re able to find new and creative ways to share the joy and zest for life of the people we support.”
John McDonough said: “After 15 years of working with such a talented bunch at W&P, some of that sparkle was bound to rub off!”
Blown away
The wins are doubly important for Andy Holt, W&P MD and Board Director for the newly formed Definition Agency Group. As an IoIC Regional Director, he is an ambassador for the Internal Communications profession in the North, championing the impact that IC has on organisations, society and people at work.
